Beschreibungen

Between the places and times and the suffering and pain of the simple people, the events of the novel grow, divided into five main parts. The novel begins with a short chapter bearing "a title from the writing tablets" that deals with the flood's attack on Egyptian villages and the peasants' escape from it, passing through the control and coercion of the mayors, and ending with the section in which there are only two words ( What will be recited? It seems that all the events and events that follow are part of what will follow.
What follows tells of people returning from the hell of Al-Rafid after it fell into the hands of the occupation, to their village in the evening; To live between three universes; Their villages before the migration, and the tributary and what happened to them in it over twenty years, and then their villages now and here, each trying according to his circumstances; Some of them lived a full life and determined themselves not to return (Abduh); He got married and had children, and some of them were able to leak his money to his wife (Indian), and some of them did not achieve anything because they traveled during the siege and economic weakness, betting on the improvement of conditions (Saeed).
The text moves between Al-Rafid and Sahar; In Al-Rafid, Salsabil, Abdo's wife, and their three children, two of whom were killed in a bus explosion during a school trip, and there is Abeer, a university history professor whose husband was killed in a nuclear reactor explosion. She was arrested months later and was not released until after the occupation. She finds no refuge except the house of her student, Salsabil.
While Osama is staying up late, he is struggling to marry Shahad, the daughter of one of the wealthy people in his village, but he is forced to divorce her because he married someone else in search of children under pressure from his family. Little by little, the tragedy unfolds. These heroes and others pay the price of silence, adaptation, coexistence, and non-resistance, and when one of them moves to resist, he pays a heavy price, whether imprisonment or death.
Siraj divided the text into five chapters with titles: "On the Writing Tablets," "From the Travel of Return," "From the Pain of Exile," "From the Days of Escape and Exodus," and "On the Way of His Abduh." Each chapter except the first was of two main types, the first being sections. It is narrated by a knowledgeable narrator, and the second chapters are titled with the name of one of the characters in the novel, and the events are told in his words.
The female element in the novel seems remarkable and influential. From the mothers who breastfeed their children, the resistance in "From the Writing Tablets," through Salsabil and Dr. Abeer, all the way to Shahad, who waits and sacrifices for her love.
